Michele Hauser, MD Director of MBCT Austin
Michele Hauser, M.D. has practiced Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in Austin since 1991. She specializes in diagnostic evaluation and medication management of individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and developmental problems. Dr. Hauser attended UT Austin for her Plan II undergraduate degree and UT Medical School at Houston for her Medical Degree. After a residency in General Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, she settled in Austin to begin private practice. She is Board Certified in both General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She has been selected by her peers as one of the "Best Doctors in Austin" and named by Texas Monthly Magazine as one of their Super Doctors multiple times since 1991.
Deciding that medication alone was not enough for patients, Dr. Hauser decided to pursue training in Mindfulness as a way to assist her patients in taking control of their own symptoms while creating permanent changes in their neurotransmitters and neuronal pathways. Dr. Hauser has pursued training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. and Saki Santorelli, PhD. and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) with Zindel Segal, PhD. and Susan Woods, MSW, LICSW. She attended a 5 day silent retreat at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in 2017 led by James Baraz. In 2018 & 2019, she attended 8 day silent retreats led by Doug Kraft.
Please be aware that taking the MBCT course does not constitute a professional doctor-patient relationship with Dr. Hauser. You are encouraged to seek treatment with an independent licensed mental health care professional if you are in need of mental health services.
